Kath Cleary, senior HR business partner – integration at Kantar

For this award, the judges were looking for an employer that has implemented a successful strategy that has made delivering benefits through a flexible benefits plan effective in their organisation. Kantar faced the complex task on uniting 12 disparate businesses and aligning benefits for all employees, while also engaging them with the change and educating them about the value of their package. Its flexible benefits scheme was introduced to achieve these aims, in doing so, opening up legacy benefits from each business to all employees. The judges loved some of its more innovative touches, such as Kantar’s holiday trading scheme, which allows staff to buy and/or sell holiday in 15 minute slots to precisely meet their needs.

The judges said: “It had a very brave strategy, which set out to streamline benefits at the same time as improve them. Its 15-minute holiday units were phenomenal.”

The winner said: “We have come a long way because it is a part of a bigger global strategy to try and align things in a company that has 12 different businesses. It has really been complex to get everyone on the same platform and bring it all together. “It is brilliant to win, especially because of where we are [as a business] having created a shared service model. To have this award to promote that we are doing things for a better business and for our people demonstrates that.”
