Best healthcare and wellbeing benefits - small employer

Emma Hart, head of human resources, Visualsoft

This award recognises an employer that has used a successful strategy to help boost productivity or engagement through employee wellbeing. Visualsoft takes a holistic approach to employee wellbeing, empowering staff to look after their own wellbeing. The judges were impressed with its methods of doing so, which include unlimited holidays and unlimited flexi-time, which placed a great deal of trust in staff and helped them to manage stress levels.

The judges said: “What stood out is the engagement. It’s about employee empowerment, engagement and employees being able to take ownership of their time. It’s a brave strategy but it builds high trust. Quite a lot of people would be skeptical but what came from this shows it isn’t a gimmick but has tangible outcomes. It’s daring but has good outcomes.”

The winner said: “We were really trying to be innovative in the way we introduced our employee benefits. We give all our employees unlimited holiday, as long as they get all their required work done.” “Our employees have no cap on 9-5, Monday-Friday flexible time, which has had a really great effect on them. Most of our employees have young families so benefits such as this really help motivate them, because they can spend more time with their loved ones. “Unlimited holiday has reduced sickness absence levels a lot. “Our benefits have really helped both the recruitment and retention of staff.”
