This award recognises an employer that has used benefits within its wider strategy to engage employees with the organisation. TalkTalk’s Great Place to Work employee engagement strategy is purely driven by employee feedback. Its strategy comprises four key pillars: the working environment, people development, systems and processes, and reward and recognition. Money-can’t-buy benefits are used to engage staff with their package, including tickets to the X Factor live finals and tickets to an annual festival, which staff are able to invite family and friends to. Its approach has clearly resonated with employees, with engagement scores and participation in the voluntary engagement survey having risen significantly over the past two years.

The judges said: “We liked the way in which it has used benefits to drive employee engagement, the good, strong results of its strategy and the way in which innovation is one of its values.”

The winner said: “We engage with our people really well. Employees are always at the forefront of everything. We have an employee board called One Voice, which are voted in by other staff. Staff get free broadband and television and free tickets to The X Factor final because we sponsor it. For staff with families, we host a one-day mini festival for employees and their families with entertainment.” “The award means really good recognition for Talk Talk as an organisation, and the HR team for all our hard work.”
